A "Home-Away-From-Home" for Military Veterans, Active Duty Service Members and Their Families.Because a family's love is good medicine!
We fundraise to support Veterans, Service Members, and their families during medical treatment at the Orlando VA Medical Center.
Many Veterans and active duty military undergo extended medical treatment for several weeks
or months and we provide a place to stay at no cost to these families.
The Orlando Fisher House has 16 suites, with private bedrooms and baths. Families share a
common kitchen, laundry facility, a warm dining room, and an inviting living room. There is never a charge to stay at the Orlando Fisher House.
The house is operated by the Orlando VA Medical Center and supported by the 501(c)(3) Friends of Fisher House Orlando (FOFHO). The FOFHO ensures the house has all the comforts of a
home for the families living there. We believe a family’s love is good medicine, which is why the
biggest impact for those receiving medical care is having their loved ones with them during
these difficult times without having to worry about hotel bills.
Families are able to stay at the Orlando Fisher House as long as a Veteran or active duty service
member is receiving treatment at the hospital.

Host Your Own Event
Supporters are full of great ideas for raising funds and awareness from bake sales to golf
tournaments. Here are some great examples to benefit the Fisher House:
- Bowling night
- Motorcycle ride
- Bake sale or chili cook-off
- 5k walk or run
- Softball or bowling tournament
- Golf tournament
Please let us know what type of event you’d like to organize by submitting a proposal with event details to Friends of Fisher House Orlando.
We’ll let you know if your event has been approved and then support your fundraising efforts by providing a proud supporter logo and fundraising guidelines. Depending on the date and location we can send a representative to the event.

Volunteer
Regularly Scheduled Volunteers
In-house opportunities include welcoming families, routine administrative tasks, light housekeeping and assistance serving meals.
Occasional Volunteers
Hosting and providing a house meal for guests, holiday decorating, coordinating a themed day
or special event, landscape projects, cleanup days, assisting with special functions on Veteran’s
Day and other holidays and supporting foundation fundraising events.
Share-A-Meal
Our guests are always grateful when organizations or groups host a meal at the house. We
welcome several hosted meals per week, particularly during weekday evenings when guests are
available to sit down and enjoy a nice meal. Volunteers have the option of catering a meal from
a local restaurant, preparing the meals offsite and bringing them in or using our big, beautiful
kitchen to prepare and cook the meal.
